So, my musical career was inconveniently curtailed by a cough that lasted two months, but I’ve finally started to kick it and I’m back to recording songs and playing some open mics. I also have my first gig here in Portland on Febrary 15th. Check out the gig section for the details. You can hear the new songs on www.myspace.com/jeremyjunkin. Hope you enjoy them. Leave comments about them either here on the web site or on the my space page. I hope you are all doing well in the new year. Peace.
Hey Everyone…. so I just got over some hiccups a couple of weeks ago. I had them for five straight days and it was horrible. They ceased being annoying and started driving me insane. But I’m okay and have been hiccup free for a little over a week. Hallelujah! In the meantime, I haven’t been updating much.
So here’s the scoop… I’m now working for Verizon as a greeter and so I wear a shirt and tie to work instead of jeans and a t-shirt. I feel like I’m going to a wedding everyday. It’s a good job and pretty easy and they pay me well, so I can’t complain.
Musically speaking, I have some songs in the works that I’m hoping to put the finishing touches on soon and putting up on the web sites for your listening pleasure. In the meantime, I’ll be out at Buffalo Gap this week playing an open mic. It’ll be good to get out and make music live again after a few weeks off. Be well and I hope you stay hiccup free : )
So, unbenownst to me, the album I made with Andrea, “First Try at Goodbye”, just got a really nice review in the local magazine Illinois Entertainer. You should all pick up a copy, they’re free : ) It’s a little odd, since I’m not longer a Chicago area artist, but hey, it’s really cool to have been reviewed. Click on this link if you want to be taken directly to the web site: http://illinoisentertainer.com/2009/09/around-hear-october-2009/
You just need to scroll down the page a little and you’ll see our names. Enjoy!
So, here I am in Portland, OR. Just sitting around and blogging for all of you out there. I am feeling happy because I had an early end to my work day. I’m doing some house cleaning out here in the NW. Not my favorite thing so far, but grateful that I am working. My employers seem like really nice people, but there is something odd about going into another persons home to clean it… especially since many of these homes are pretty clean! Whatever…
I’m also living in community out here. It has been really great and a huge help in making the adjustment. It is always sad to leave people that you love behind. I definitely miss Chicago, especially this time of year, right before the cold weather starts kicking your ass. But I am so grateful to be living with three other people who are loving and caring and I hope I am loving and caring back toward them. There is something quite vulnerable about opening your self up to letting others meet needs in your life. It is easy for me to try and do that for people… much more difficult to recieve it.
So, those are some of the things I am thinking about these days. Letting myself be loved and cared for… and cleaning houses. Please keep checking back and I will continue to post new music and gigs. Feel free to leave messages here or at the my space or my facebook fan page. TTFN.
Hey everyone,
Head on over to myspace.com/jeremyjunkin and check out my new track. Leave some comments here or there or on my facebook about how you are feeling about the song. I am going to try to get a new one up every few weeks. More updates soon.
Hey ya’ll. It’s time for some update action of my time here in the Portland. I’ve been busy working last week and this which is awesome. It’s good to have some income finally coming in. I also went to my first open mic night at the Hawthorne. It was pretty chill and I got to see a dude named Jom Rapstar lay down some sweet beats. Please google him… you will not be disappointed. Playing out again really started to make me feel like I was putting down some roots here in Portland and not just passing through. And it was just what I needed to get my musical motivation on.
Speaking of which, I am recording some new stuff for all of your musical enjoyment. It’ll just be some home recordings, but I’m going to pop them up on MySpace in the next couple of weeks. I’ll give you all a heads up when the are on the site. And tell all your West Coast friends to check out the site and friend me on either F-book or MySpace. I’ll need all the new fans I can get : ) Farewell for now and I’ll catch you all later.
Here are some pics from the 1/2 Marathon that I ran a month ago… Thanks to Rachel Strevey for taking these!

So I made a pretty big move recently. I have left the confines of sweet home chicago and I am now a resident of the lovely state of Oregon. I made my way out here with three friends of mine: John and Amanda Stockman and Jeremy Reeves. We have a little house in the Southeast part of portland. Apparently it used to be called Felony Flats, but apparently all the felons were kind enough to move north east of us. So I think I’ll rename it Misdemeanor Manor (copyright pending). It’s actually pretty quiet here and the rent is super cheap, so we’ll call it home.
The drive out here was incredible. It took us 41 hours with a few hours stops in between. We were dead tired once we arrived, but then we had to unload before actually getting to bed. Outside of that, it was absolutely beautiful. Seeing the landscapes change and the wide open spaces… such a difference from the packed in feel of Chicago. You feel like you can breathe out here. When we were entering the state of Oregon, we came through these dramatic hills… the sun was just beginning to set and we were passing the Columbia River (I think). Just breath-taking!
Keep checking back on a weekly basis. I’ll be updating the blog and letting you all know what’s going on with the music and hopefully posting some show date soon. I’ll also put up some pics as soon as I can. Peace.
Hey peeps! Andrea and Zach have decided that I should actually keep up with this blog or shut it down
So after careful consideration, I am going to continue to actually post stuff. So much has been going on for us musically. The album finally came out! It felt like it took forever, but it is here. You can pick up your copy at our next show or you can go to www.cdbaby.com or head over to i-tunes and download your favorite tracks. Speaking of which, if you want to hear songs from the album you can click the link to Andrea’s website or to hear some of my tracks click on the tab above for our joint myspace. If you want to read a review for the record, head over to Christianity Today’s website and check out the music section. The record’s called First Try at Goodbye and you should really give it a listen. And definitely come to one of our next shows! Talk to you all later….
Hey everyone. I know that no one’s actually visiting this site, but i thought I should update you all anyhow. Things have been going great as a band. We just finished mixing over the weekend and the songs are great. Just a few more steps and we’ll have an album! Don’t forget that you can pre-order before the release date and save $2! Another note of thanks to Mark and Dennis for their time energy and hard work. I will get the new shows up soon, but in the mean time you can view them at www.myspace.com/andreadawnjeremyjunkin or go to www.andreadawnmusic.com. See you out there!
